I read a lot. A LOT. Recently I've been reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing. This book is right up my alley. I am constantly trying to find ways to make our home more efficient and comfortable as possible. This can be a challenge with two adults, a 5 year old girl who has way too many clothes, an almost 2 year old boy who is growing too fast and a yellow lab.
There are lots of ways to apply the techniques outlined in the book. I started with my kids' clothes because they are essential to daily life and we have a hard time managing them. Drawers end up being a chaotic mess of mixed up clothes and you can't easily find what you want.
After I finished reorganizing the drawers, I felt kinda dumb. "I cannot believe I never thought of this before," went through my head. This is what my son's shirt drawer looks like now:
Totally amazing. You can see every shirt. All 44 of them. And there is still space for another column. I did the same to his pants and pajamas. Unfortunately, I could only do this to my daughter's pajamas since a majority of her clothing are dresses, which are on hangers.
My user experience of dressing my children has just drastically increased. Plus, I get to start training them to be as organized as me, which will continue to increase my user experience of keeping an efficient and comfortable home. Win, win!
